Graduated winning the Extraordinary End of Studies prize in composition Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. Titular professor of composition in Escola Superior de Música de Cataluña. He has won the Premio Nacional de Música (2001), Premio Internacional de Composición Reina Sofía (2000), el Composers’ Price de la Fundación Ernst von Siemens (1997) or Composition prizes from Hamburg, Cologne and Vienna, and Premio GAMO 2018 for his career (Florence). His pieces has been played by Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Vienna RSO Symphony Orchestra, German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España y solistas como Nicholas Hodges, Patricia Kopatchinskaja o Tabea Zimmermann, and many others. Currently he is composing a new ópera called “Bruno o il Teatro della Memoria”, commissioned by Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie,  co-productioned with different international institutions.
